Instructional Model

It is recommended that teachers spend 15-20 minutes on Word Study in the reading intervention classroom daily. Word Sorts, syllabication, chunking, phonics, and word attack skills can all be addressed in explicit instruction. Small group practice with students working on their independent level is appropriate.
